Average Life Expectancy is up in Armenia


According to the National Statistical Service of Armenia, the country’s population was 2,972,900 as of January 1, 2018, which is 13,200 people less than January 1 of the previous year.

As of January 1 of the current year, 1,560,800 women and 1,412,100 men live in Armenia; that is, women in the country are about 11 percent more than men.

The average life expectancy in Armenia is up to 75 years; this is 78.3 years for women, whereas 71.6 years for men.

Child mortality rate has dropped in Armenia in 2017. In the case when this was 8.5 children per thousand births in 2016, this has reduced to 8.1 children in the year past.

Armenia’s maternal mortality ratio between 2015 and 2017 was 18.3 (22 cases) per 100,000 live births, against 19.6 (25 cases) from 2012 to 2014.

And the GDP per capita in Armenia made up Armenian drams equivalent to $2,615, or €2,349 between January and September 2017.
