“Panorama”.- President of the Republic of Armenia Armen Sarkissian visited today the well-known German “DESY” research center in Tsoyten, which conducts fundamental research in high energy and accelerator physics.
“DESY” cooperates with A. E. Alikhanyan National Scientific Laboratory, Yerevan Physics Institute and Yerevan CANDLE Synchrotron Research Institute.
President of the Board of Directors of “DESY”, Professor Helmut Dosch presented the directions of the center’s activities to President Sarkissian. The President also learnt about the capabilities of the PITZ accelerator in the center, after which he met with 3DESY” Scientific Council.
Noting that Armenia has serious traditions in fundamental sciences and especially in the field of physics, President Sarkissian underlined that there is great potential for expanding cooperation with the Armenian scientific-research institutions.
“I’m glad to see Armenian scholars at” DESY “and their presence here is a proof of true Armenian-German cooperation. I think there are serious opportunities to deepen the cooperation within your new projects.
Armenia has good specialists and ties, Armenia has shown that it can produce high quality products. Therefore, I think we need to continue and develop our partnership,” the President underscored, adding that he was ready to do his best to support the deepening of the cooperation.
